Uhn, so Where Have You been??

Hello Everybuddy!

We have been suffering a little cabin fever, a little bacterial infection, some mullygrubs, a little cold, just the usual winter stuff.  We have tried to read and comment, but just couldn't get a blog going for us.The rest of you seem to be doing  fine.

Dear Abby:  I'm going to miss knowing that you are out there somewhere thinking up clever comments for people who write you letters.  We all used to talk about you, years ago, sit around with a cup of coffee, and determine how WE might have answered some of those questions.  But all things considered, you were the Best.  One of your best responses and one I  use to this day is MYOB , yes, Mind Your Own Business.  Fits perfectly in so many places. So
Rest in Peace, and I hope you and your Sister Ann Landers, get along better Up There than you did down here.

Carson of 7MSN Ranch  recommended a book last week called A Dog's Purpose written by W.Bruce Cameron, and as far as I am concerned she deserves a Thank You for it.  What a wonderful book!  This is the story of one sweet dogs search for his purpose over several lifetimes.  You will laugh, you'll cry, you'll want to read it to a kid, and you will never look at your dog the same way again.  I hope you look for it and find it.  My copy was at my local library waiting for me.  If you have already read it, give us a shout about it!

Stella has been outside a good bit, even though we have little, very little snow and it stays sub-zero some of the time.  Last week it was one big skating rink around here.  We have been 30/30 dropouts in that sense. However, we do walk our errands and manage to get at the very least 30 minutes in every couple of days, depending on the weather.  Sorry, we are just winter chickens is all.  Oh, Stella says to drop the We on that and change it to Mom is . . . .OK, I accept!

Zkhat stays very busy.  She  is downstairs for sleeps and eats, upstairs for naps, downstairs at lunch time. upstairs for Playing Slinky, downstairs for dark and looking out the window at cars going by.  She seems happy enough and keeps her girlish figure which Stella and I both seem to have trouble with, and she is not revealing any of her secrets to either of us.

We hope you are all well and having a good winter wherever you live.

Cheers and hugs,

Jo, Stella and Zkhat

  2. I felt a sadness at Abby's death also. I guess I was surprised she was alive I hadn't heard anything about her for so long. She was an era that has good memories. Sad that we don't really have newspapers now. Or just about. I know I don't have one delivered . Seems silly when you can get them free online. But I do miss them.

  3. Hope you and your clan are feeling better and getting back in the groove. I've had a case of not being able to comment lately. All my words seem to fall flat and short. But live has gotten in the way of blogging the last couple of weeks. I need to find a way to make time for both. Love the photo of Stella. I hope she hasn't been eating any yellow snow!

  4. Mom's not doing so great on the walking think either. It's either too cold or too hot or too rainy or too icy. We don't mind any of those except the too hot one.

We think Mom has that book, but it's still in the "to read" stack.

  7. There are a lot of people who aren't feeling the best right now, and I'll hope you all feel better--A little bit of snow would help me!! THANKS for the thoughts on A Dog's Purpose. I got that book and have never read it, I think I should! :-)

  8. I was sad to hear about Abby's passing, too. I remember the advice column being my favorite part of the newspaper as a teen and college student. There have been some fantastic letters and responses over the years.

I hope you're feeling better after all the bugs! This time of year is tough. Stella, if you were closer, Bunny and I would take you out with us every night!

  9. I'm sorry you've been under the weather. Sure hope you are feeling better now and that the worst of the flu season is over! Dear Abby was the very first thing I headed to every morning as a kid. In fact, she and Erma Bombeck were my favorites. Glad Stella has a nice big back yard to play in. I love your new heading! Stella makes a great black and white photo! Take care! Stay warm!!

  11. Glad to hear you are past the sickies. Momma struggled with them for a couple of weeks; no fun! Momma added her "Rest in Peace" to your Dear Abby tribute...times were different then, she said.

We read A Dog's Purpose together and also loved it! What was your favorite incarnation?

Don't feel bad about winter walkies...once the trees start budding and green appears you and Stella will rush to be out and about. Winter is for cuddling and kanoodling and keeping warm hearts and tummies.

  12. Always good to hear from you, and thanks for the book recommendation. As for the 30/30 thing, we think that you should get an exemption for sub-zero days, for sure.
    Cheers!

  14. Thanks for leaving such a poignant message. Some people, like Stan Musial, touch more folks than one can imagine for many different reasons.

  16. I don't much care for this subzero stuff of late but..... Baron loves it. When the temp drops below zero he get to sleep in the house instead of his cozy nest in the unheated garage...:)
