January 1, 2013
There is something wonderful about writing down the month, day and new year, isn't there?
Today we have signed up for the 30/30 Challenge, thirty minutes of walking for 30 days. Thirty minutes is not much, but I was glad that Stella and I did not begin today. The forecasters told us that there were 24-29 degree below zero windchills and tomorrow will be in the upper 20s,which isn't bad at all. Then once we get January's walking done, we will join the Idita Walking Challenge which runs through February. Stella will love it ! Me, winter walking isn't my very favorite, but I don't mind it too much.
I am trying to change my header but the new Google just has me stumped. I cannot lose the yellow/red from my old header. Has anyone else had problems with this and perhaps a solution??
The Holidays were nice but I have to admit I am glad they are over and we can get back to our regular routine.
Wasn't it nice to hear from our Little Lorenza yesterday? I miss that little fashionista and her life in Mexico.
From the three of us, we send you wishes for a Happy New Year, bringing you good health, happy times and good friends.
Cheers and hugs,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat
your header looks great. do you mean the color of your background? if so, you might need to go through Layout-then click Template Designer in the top line-then select Background from the menu on the top left side. if you select a color scheme there, it might mess up some other color choices you've got for post titles or whatever, but that's where i change my colors. :)
ReplyDeletegood luck with the 30 days!!! brr!!!
Happy New Year to you all Jo. Stella and Zkhat, from another household that's delighted to be back to the normal routines. The 30/30 is some challenge, in your climate in January. Good luck and lets hope the weather stays above 20F. I remember my American friend Marse telling me that when they lived near Duluth her strict father (her was in the military) insisted that the five kids walk the mile to school and he would only give them a lift if the temperature was sub-zero. And I thought, with my European hat on, zero Centigrade (i.e. 32F) that's not too bad, I could cope with that. Then I realised she meant zero Fahrenheit....
ReplyDeleteJust raining here, again.
Cheers,
Gail (and Bertie).
Stay warm, Jo and Stella!

ReplyDeleteWishing you all a Happy New Year.
We hope 2013 is a good one for you and the year is filled with joy and fun.
Best wishes Molly
Happy NEW YEAR Miss Jo Stella and Zkhat. NO that would be WAY tooo cold to walk fur even 30 SECONDS let alone 30 minutes. Good Choice.
ReplyDeleteYES... We were THRILLED to hear from Lorenza. We miss her somethingy awful.
Wednesday, 1-2-13 Walked from 12:25 to 1:25 with a 10 minute stop at the Post Office. About a 50 minute walk. Stella loved every minute of it. The streets and the sidewalks were yukky but we did it!

The Winter Wokkers
Living here in (mostly) sunny California, it really isn't that hard to get out there every day for the thirty minutes. Though we've been having quite the rainy winter, so it's been a little hit and miss.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just LOVED hearing from Miss Lorenza!! I've been thinking abouts her often, and hoping they were all okay.
Good luck with the 30/30!
Kisses,
Ruby
and Happy New Year to you as well. I find winter hiking with Baron up here on the tundra a struggle and safety issue as well. Of course, Baron love it anytime of the year but I'm a little older than he is....:)
ReplyDeleteWe need to get walking too! Its just sooo cold here!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you!!
Happy New Year to you too! I'll cheer you on in the 30/30 and the Iditawalk! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI almost never change my header because it leads to such headaches! So, I am no help. I bet that someone else can help.
Happy New Year! It's cold here, too, but not that cold. I agree wait until it is a little warmer!
ReplyDeleteWe wish you all a happy, healthy, and joyous 2013!
Your pal, Pip
Happy New Year! My Stella thinks that the 30/30 Challenge is an excellent idea, and she thinks we should do it ... Stella is a chocolate Lab, and she thinks everything is an EXCELLENT idea! Well, I love her, so we're going to give it a go too. :)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from up 'Nort
Barbara and Stinker Stella
Rob gave me a membership in an exercise place for Christmas. It wasn't really something I wanted and I don't know how much I'll use it, but maybe I can walk the track some this winter. It beats slipping on the ice.
ReplyDeleteHowdy Stella Up Over, Jo and Zkhat, Happy New Year to you all. The walking challenge sounds cool. We're a walking family too butt our trouble at the moment is our heat. (45C or around 114F), phew! We have to walk very early morning to stay cool. Maybe we could share some of our heat and you could send over some cool weather ok? No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteYes, I can relate - it's been frigid here in CO. I live to walk though - I try to do 4-5 miles a day, unless it's too icy. Good Luck!
ReplyDeletehello stella its dennis the vizsla dog hay happy noo yeer!!! it luks like yore hedder woes hav ben figgerd owt it luks grate!!! not to menshun kold!!! enjoy yore wawks!!! ok bye
ReplyDeleteSo proud of you both! The WDA has decided that we have evolved from the frigid tastes of our sled dog ancestors...we like the idea of driving up the mountain to play in the snow and then driving home where it is 40 to enjoy warm broth and apres cold! You Minnesnowdans are hearty girls!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Momma's voice is back but now she coughs. Humans!
Happy & Healthy New year to you all! The 30/30 challenge sounds great, maybe I can convince my person to try it w/ me!
ReplyDeleteJo, Quinn is 35lbs. Steve's t-shirts are a bit big but last night we put his smallest one (from Jr HS, yes Steve is a hoarder)and rubberbanded fistfuls on the back where it would not affect his comfort.
ReplyDeleteI am also interested in the Ace bandage idea if you come across the link. Quinn is the sweetest most gentle soul ever and it pains me when he is not at peace. Thanks.
Oops and I forgot to mention I've also read Meachems books and should have included him on my list of great writers of history. When he was editor of Newsweek it was still respectable. What a sad demise it's had since....
