Its Sir David Attenborough and its called a Wonderful World, we really enjoyed it and I hope you will too.

My Mom will be back with you in a week or so.

My Hero!

Hi Evfurry Buddy, this is Ziva Zophia (Zkhat) reporting this morning.

Some of you may know I have a special man-cat friend, Tober, and we exchange mail pretty often.  I know Valentine's Day is over but I wanted to show you the beautiful Valentine Tober designed for me! Tober has a job, he is director cat of the Thorntown Library in Thorntown, Indiana!  Yes, it IS an important job.  So he designed this Valentine and had one of his many assistants create it for him, then sent it to me.
A picture of the two of us together! It made me very, very happy.

If you go click on the library, in the above paragraph, it will take you to his website and you can read all about my Valentine, plus go to About Me (Tober) and learn about his life.  Its a very good story.

Tober is a wonderful man-cat, and a very good friend.  I wish I could go to Indiana and visit him in person, but I am not sure how to do that, plus I doubt that Tober can leave his library work either.  Maybe we will find a way someday.

Purrs and more purrs,

Ziva Zophia (Zkhat)

My Best Friend is sick!

Hi Pups and Kitties!

If you read my blog, you will know that Tsar of the Porties is my BFF, thats Best Friend Forever you know, and I am sad because he is  very sick with a brain syndrome.  The vet and his Mom, Sue have not been able to figure it all out yet and tomorrow he may get to start medicine, Prednisone, for it.  I hope and pray this works for Tsar.  He is so good to me and so handsome, he sings like an angel.
Please put the Power of the Paw to work for Tsar, my family and I will do many Prayers for his recovery . . .won't you join us??

Thank you,

Stella

Pillars of Strength - A Special Day for K

\

Hi KB!

You wrote me at Christmas time, so devastated because you just learned that K, the dog of your heart, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and I sat and cried while I read it.

But I also knew that you had not begun to research this disease, or learned what you would need to do, or put your personal power (which is considerable) to work for you.  I  knew things would be different for this beautiful girl of yours (and ours!) once you got things rolling.  And they have been, haven't they?  I have watched you decide that K should be able to live her life with however much zest she could muster.  That has been considerable too.

I have written you e-mails asking how "our girl" was, and knew that
many, many of us felt exactly that way.  We can't wait to check your post everyday, to learn how K is on that day, whats happening treatment wise and how you are managing it.  I and many others pray for her daily, and feel that she is getting the best care, medically and spiritually, that she needs (and that includes you.)

So,  while I would like to be able to say she will be fine, I can more easily say with the Power of the Paw, the Power of Prayer, and your Power I believe some miraculous things may happen for K.  That is what we all want.

With love,

Jo, Stella and Zkhat

KB's blog Romping and Rolling in the Rockies is a wonderful daily look at life in the Rockies, with wild life, bears, mountain lions, Bobcats, elk and deer.  Stop and take a look!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

 Hi Pups and Kitties!

Jo here sending our good wishes to all the furry kids who like Valentines!

You know sometimes I say that all three of us in this house are rescues and here is a picture for you.

These women are my Aunties, and two of them are my mothers.  They are arranged by age with the oldest on the far right.  The second one on the right is my birth mother, she died when I was just an 18 month old baby after a long bout of cancer.  Everyone loved her and missed her terribly.  Then I was adopted by the eldest, and taken away to live with my new Mom and Dad.  There is only one of these Sullivan girls left, the youngest on the left.  She is 13 years older than I am and we grew up more like sisters.  The one next to her is the school teacher (one room country school), then the one who liked to be gone, more than anything.  I lived until I was three with the ones at home, my Grandpa and Grandma.  I still have Valentines from them.  I mailed a Valentine today to my "sister/aunty" who is 86 years old and suffering Alzheimers.  Her daughter will try to help her understand who sent it.  I typed up the verse in the card in big, big letters so I hope she can read it.  I grew up loving all these women, they were the funniest bunch in the world and gave me their sense of humor.  I can't even begin to tell you how much I miss them.

Now, I am taking a cue from Stella and I want every one in this world for my Valentine.  OR I could take a cue from Zkhat the Diva and wish for no Valentines.

Ah, I think I will stick with Stella, only not quite so exciteable in greeting my prospective Valentines.

Cheers and hugs and a few kisses,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat

A good Sunday!

Hello Peeps, Pups, and Kitties!

We have slacked off a bit this week as far as posts are concerned, but its been a busy time for  us.  We wanted to show you what our world looks like, and has looked like for the last three or four days.

Our trees, fences and everything has been covered with hoarfrost, and while its pretty, and sort of winter wonderland looking, we'd all like a little sunshine, which would eat it up.
Here is me on the back porch waiting to come inside.  I just went out for my morning call, then had to go say hello to the Bulldogs who live next door.  They have a pen they stay in when they go out so they don't get to run around like I do.  They have very short hair, so they get too cold to stay out long.

My Mom found a recipe she thought she would like for granola.  Do you like granola?  Sometimes I get a little taste of it but not much.  Its usually tasty!  Here is the new recipe she is trying.

Olive Oil and Maple Granola
Adapted from Nekisia Davis, Early Bird Foods, and Food 52

Nuts and seeds can add up, but I buy mine at Trader Joe's or in the bulk section of my local grocery store, and that helps keep the cost down. I also was able to find coconut chips in bulk. (And if you're wondering exactly what coconut chips are, here's a picture.)

The next time I make this, I might cut back a little on the brown sugar, but I recommend trying it as written first.

300 grams (3 cups) rolled oats
125 grams (1 cup) raw hulled pumpkin seeds
130 grams (1 cup) raw hulled sunflower seeds
50 grams (1 cup) unsweetened coconut chips
135 grams (1 ¼ cup) raw pecans, whole or chopped
85 grams (packed ½ cup) light brown sugar
1 tsp. kosher salt
175 ml (¾ cup) maple syrup, preferably Grade B
120 ml (½ cup) olive oil
Dried cherries, optional

Preheat the oven to 300°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine the oats, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, coconut chips, pecans, light brown sugar, and salt. Stir to mix. Add the olive oil and maple syrup, and stir until well combined. Spread the mixture in an even layer on the prepared sheet pan. Bake, stirring every 15 minutes, until the granola is golden brown and toasted, about 45 minutes. Remove the granola from the oven, and season with more salt to taste. Cool completely on a wire rack. If you'd like, stir in some dried cherries. Store in an airtight container. Yield: about 7 cups and will keep at room temperature for up to a month.  About a fourth cup is a serving, so my Mom finds it perfect to sprinkle over yogurt.

This is from my Mom's favorite food blog, Orangette who is really Molly Wizenberg writer of the book A Homemade Life.  My Mom says she is cutting back on the sugar AND the maple syrup.  I bet thats the best part.

Zkhat is sleeping  upstairs.  She was sleeping on my Mom's bed, but I got up there too and that makes her mad, so she goes upstairs.  She just takes care of herself, and she hates for me to bother her.  Can't be friends!

Don't forget tomorrow is the last day of the Auction for the Houston Pitty Pack and the injured dog who was used as a bait dog in a fighting ring. Visit this website to see what you can find there!

Happy Sunday everyone,

 Stella, Jo and Zkhat
