A Birthday and a Prize

About three weeks ago, Stella and I shared a blog post and mine had to do with a wonderful book I had read.  That was The Round House by Louise Erdrich.

This book has won The National Book Award for Fiction which gives the writer a small statue and a $10,000 award AND a much wider audience.   Here is  photo of the very happy Ms. Erdrich.

Do yourself a favor and get The Round House at your local library or bookstore.  I am betting you will like it very much.

*Birthday*

Yes, its mine, and this morning when I  clicked on Google I found this and when I clicked on it (to see what the occasion was

It said

Happy Birthday, Jo  !

Now usually its in honor of say, Albert Einsteins 200th birthday or some other VIP but on my computer, on my birthday, it was just
for me.  So thank you to whoever is responsible for this.  Google?
Kathy B?  One of the Sues?  Mary?  Mike?  I have no idea, but
it was great fun.

Stella and I are going to the PO to mail a package to a friend, then come home and bake  that big birthday cookie I saw on Mennonite Girls Can Cook yesterday and the rest will be the same kind of surprise this morning was.

Cheers and hugs all around,

Jo

  8. Happy Birthday Jo. Have a wonderful day. We are just a bit disappointed that Google did not also tell us that it was your birthday - surely an event worth celebrating across the world.

  14. We hope your day was filled with small indulgeneces, special memories, a bit of pampering, and much celebration of the wonderful person you are! The WDA wish for your "new year" is that you always have just enough...just enough to not want; just enough to be comfortable; just enough to remember how blessed you are by the Universe; and just enough to know a contented heart. We honor and celebrate you, dear friend!

  15. Caffeine is not a good thing for dogs, Jo, but please understand I drink a cup of coffee composed as such: 1/3 cup of coffee (decaf in the winter) and 2/3 cup cream...so the lap or two each of the boys (none of the others will touch it) get I believe is relatively harmless. Dr. Julia sort of shrugged (over coffee with me) and said "we all have our guilty pleasures, right?" No, they do not get hyper.
