AN OPEN LETTER TO BERTIE & OTHERS

Hello to Bertie and others interested in Thunder Support Group:

I would like to begin by welcoming all dogs who suffer from Fear of Thunderstorms to our support group.  We meet on the second Saturday of each month (next July 13th).

Bertie, you have carried on about being a member even though you do NOT have fear of Thunderstorms.  I would ask you to carefully read the following:

If you've ever dealt with a tough problem in your life, you know how helpful it can be to know you're not alone. Support groups can bring individuals with problems together, providing valuable social support, along with the information to solve or ease their problems.
Support groups are made up of individuals who have an experience in common, such as fear or  a shared life experience. These individuals meet, in person or through a facilitator, to provide information and emotional support.
This is really not a group to encourage members of those who have no understanding of the fear of thunderstorms that our membership has.  Bertie, you suggest that SOMEDAY you may have these storms in Aberdeen or that SOMEDAY you may wind up living in OKlahoma.  If that becomes the case we are certain you will find a good group to assist you at that time.  But until you actually experience debilitating fear of thunderstorms, you have no need of our group. We are limited in space and feel certain that our group will understand my decision.
One of your good friends sent me this letter:
GizmoGeodog has left a new comment on your post " Hi Every Buddy!  A week or two ago I got an e-mai...":

Oooh those treats sound great Stella...Came over to visit from Bertie's blog this morning...I'm OK with thunder so I won't ask to join your support group but I know a lot of pups who would benefit...it's a good idea Happy Thursday.  (Posted by GizmoGeodog to Jo's World at 20 June, 2013)-------------------
This would be a good attitude for you to work on.  We did get a couple of new members who very much need to work on this fear and for that, we thank you.  Now, please, Bertie, just let this go.
Thank you,
Stella

  1. As you know, I've mentioned that we didn't have a pup that needed your support--But that changed last night when a storm came, and we realized that Taylor our new girl could and does need some great support!!

  3. LET THIS GO?
Stella, you do realise that you are talking to a terrier don't you?
Letting things go is not our strong point.
    Hmmm.
Gail is just beckoning me over for a 'quiet word'....
You may hear more from me later.
    Toodle pip!
    Bertie.

  6. BUTT I (Frankie Furter) was hoping that Bertie COULD join so that I could sit BEHIND HIM during the meetings.. Not that I wanted the dreaded THUNDER to "GET" him... I was just hoping that he would block some of the SCARY STUFFS.

Wish we could have a meeting tonight... It is supposed to .... DO IT ... here and I am ALREADY worried and nervous.

    1. We had storms last night and another expected tonight. Its too hot for me to wear my Storm Jacket, so I will just go to my special place, right by my Mom, who will talk to me and maybe even read to me and it will help. Will your Mom or Dad read to you, Frankie? Sometimes just talk helps.

Try not to get scared right away, wait for the thunder, then think of me doing the same. We will get through this, Frankie!

      Keep in touch!

      Your friend,
      Stella

  7. Well, I proudly wear my pink Thundershirt when the storms blow in and I think it sounds like a fine group!

  8. Last night Mom was watching TV and Sydney jumped into her lap and sat there panting and trembling. We weren't having a storm and none of us know what scared her unless it was the sound of a lawnmower across the street. Poor girl was so frightened.

  12. We are sadly missing the very handsome GSD Baron, who due to
arthritis and knee problems had to be put down. How much better than he should suffer with pain. He will be missed by all of the Thunder Support Group.

    Sincerely,
    Stella and all

  13. Maybe poor Bertie just has a crush on Stella and wants to join in the fun. He could be friends without thunder support, couldn't he?
Daisy has no fear of thunder, and if she did, she could hide under her horse friends. But she would still like to play with Stella and other fun doggie friends.

  15. Ok Stella, this is to notify you that I hereby, and with some reluctance, formally withdraw my application to be a member of your Thunder Support Group. For now at least.

Gail and I are currently heading down to Nottingham on the train to see HGD and HGY. Hot weather in England is forecast for later in the week, and with that, I guess, there is potential for thunder. I have put Gail on high alert to record by video any evidence of agitated behaviour on my part in the event of a bad storm. I hope that, if I ever did decide to reapply for membership of your exclusive group, and supported that application with hard evidence, then you would be prepared to reconsider your decision.

    Toodle pip!
    Bertie.

  16. Just stopping by to wish you a Happy 4th and to thank you for all your support and emails and love during this time. It is wonderful to have you for our friends.

We want to thank you so very much for your kind words of comfort and friendship after our very sudden loss of Thunder. We are all still very sad, but the support and love from all of our friends from all over the world is helping to heal our broken hearts. We are sure that Thunder Dunder is now in a very happy place and also very thankful to have so many wonderful friends.

Woos - Phantom, Ciara, Lightning, and Mom Kathie

  17. Momma HAS to be well enough to go to the Health Fair (that's kind of funny, huh?) Since she is the founder of Paws To People, Bridges To Cures, she is expected to give the Welcoming address. She hates public speaking but there is NO way she is getting out of this! We are all so excited!
