You Wearin' a Watch?

Good weekend to evfurry buddy!    I am curious to know how many dogs tell their people what time it is every day?

This girl, this Stella, tells me every day exactly what time it is.  I could set a watch by her.  Just start with the morning.  At 8:00 am she jumps up on my bed and wakes up Zkhat and I. She would like some scratches and some petting but thats not the most important thing. The important event is her breakfast, kibble with a small amount of finely grated cheese on it.

So we get up and fix her bowl for breakfast, which she eats quickly and goes right back to bed to sleep for another hour.  Zkhat has a little yogurt with me and she goes to her favorite chair in the living room for , yes, more sleeps!

11 am rolls around and Stella wants to hit the backyard for a while.  Weather permitting, she stays out until noon, when she comes in asking for a small cookie.  A little nap is on her agenda and she goes back to bed for an hour or so.  At one pm, she comes out to see what I am up to, and we might have a little walk about then.  So we get back home at 2 pm and whats this?  Another naptime!  This is a long one, she sleeps until 4 pm, gets up, goes outdoors for an hour and comes in at 5 pm looking for her supper.  She likes it to be on the dot of 5, but I seldom get things ready until about 6 pm.  At 6, we all  have supper, me, Zkhat and Stella.  I go into the livingroom with mine and watch the news and eat.  Then Stella wants to play, stuffees, balls, bones, whatever she can find and she likes tossing them in the air.  Zkhat doesn't like this rowdy stuff so she goes upstairs while Stella and I have some playtime.  I am watching TV, Stella gets quiet, and at exactly 8 pm, she goes to bed, getting up at 11 pm and going for a quick trip outside. She is down for the night and  next day its the same thing, all over.  It seldom varies by minutes and Stella gets a little upset if things interrupt this perfect day of hers.  She doesn't need a  watch, she keeps the time in her little head!  I am curious to know how it is with you?  Same thing?  If you have several dogs, is the pack leader the timekeeper?

Happy weekend to one and all,

Stella, Jo, and Zkhat

  2. You are EXCELLENT timekeepers. THAT is very VERY much impawtant beclaws WE all know that PEEPS must be held to a strict schedule... Otherwise they tend to furget the IMPAWTANT thingys that need to be done ... like letting us in and out and when to FEED us and when to go to bed and when to get up.
Ernie and I SHARE the timekeeping duties here.

    1. Dear Otto:

We don't handle it, the time is the same, only different.

  5. Yes, my pack keeps track of time for me. I don't wear a watch anymore. Morgan and Noah are the chief timekeepers, but they all know exactly what to do every hour. Morgan is the loudest about letting me know if we're running late.

  6. We are all very good at keeping track of the time. Of course, Lightning thinks it is mealtime any time. Phantom is the one who signals bedtime - promptly at 8:30 even if the rest of us aren't quite there yet:)

Hope you are having a good weekend.

  7. Oh, it's a very similar story at our house! I thought after Lilac passed away that we might get to sleep in more, but Kuster feels we all need to be up at 4:30 am. If he actually sleeps in, Morgan makes sure we get up at 5:25, five minutes before my alarm goes off!

  8. I know the time.... all the time!
My routine is the same every day... and I like to follow it in time... If I notice changes.... I feel a little bit stressed...
Thankfully my mom and my grandparents know that soooo.... things are done according to my wishes!!!
    I rule my house! Haaaa!
    Have a super duper week!

  11. Hey Stella and Company! Stella, it is so nice of you to let your Mom sleep until 8! Wow, our cat wakes us up every morning at 6:40 am--at least she's regular. Also Stella, I liked you WW picture of the 'rain not snow'. Have a great week!

  12. Hi, Well Jo you do not need a clock with Stella, I was the same I woke John at 6 30 so we could be out by 7 then back for Breakfast, or we took it in the van and were out most of the day. Ten at night I went to bed. Now I get up later, old age I guess.

  13. Funny! Daisy tells time, too. During the winter we walk every day at 3, and she would start jumping around and nosing us at a few minutes before the hour. She wanted us to get going, and to be sure to remember to bring her along!

  14. Hi Jo
Hamish used to come with me to an informal German conversation class, held in the house of our teacher, and animal lover, Margaret. We would meet for 90 minutes. Hamish would sit there quietly for 89 minutes and the get up, walk around and bark a couple of times. Margaret called him "unsere Wecker" (our alarm clock).
    Cheers,
    Gail.

  15. In the WDA we have assigned different timekeepers for different tasks. Oso is usually the wake up morning boy for Steve to study. I am momma's wake up. Quinn is in charge of the 1pm duck jerky treat time. YoYoMa dinner time. Puff night walk time. And Nuka bedtime treat time. Always the same pup, always the same time!

  17. There are only two things that our dogs tell us that it is time for, every single day. Those two things are their morning exercise (R runs with the Runner, and Shyla goes with me), and their evening hike. Aside from those things, they tend to snooze, and they take their meals whenever we make them. I think that they are laid back about the rest of their schedule (aside from exercise)because it is SO variable!

I loved hearing about a typical Stella Day!
