BLACK PET DAY!

Hi Evfurry Buddy!
We visited the White Dog Army tonight and they had the best poster up
Since I am a black dog that spent three long months in a shelter because no one came to adopt me, until my Mom finally did.  She says black is the most elegantest color there is and I was the prettiest dog there.  The poster says that black pets are adopted only half as often as other pets are and lots of beautiful, good pets are sent away to the Bridge because no one adopts them.  I was so lucky!

Maybe we should start a campaign about adopting black pets and putting up signs and writings about it in our blogs.  I know my most favorite black dog, my BFF Tsar would think that was fine.
Tsar needs a little Power of the Paw these days.  Remember him in your prays and good wishes.

Think about Sam's Marge too.  A beautiful black dog that was sent from pillar to post until Sam got her and helped her to become an agility champ and hardly afraid at all.

So thanks, White Dog Army, for helping us to remember these important things!

Cheers and hugs,
Jo who loves the color black
Stella who loves having a home
Zkhat who wishes everyone was lucky!

  1. Black dogs also make really great friends...did we mention that? The WDA simply cannot believe that ANY pup would be overlooked for such a silly reason! Let's put an end to color discrimination...spread the word...encourage people to look into the heart and the eyes when choosing a life companion, because that tells what really matters.

  3. Well then Happy Black Pet Day Stella. You certainly a great model, with your gorgeous thick and glossy coat. I know Gail looks at your picture quite often and wants to reach through the computer screen and rub her hand through all that lovely black fur.
    Toodle pip!
Bertie (whose black bits are a different texture from his white bits, apparently).

  4. It is so sad that dogs and cats are overlooked just because they are black. Black is beautiful and as your pictures show very adoptable too.. Hugs GJ xx

  7. I know of someone whose rescue only takes in the black dogs for the reasons you've mentioned--I'm glad that it's a day to celebrate!! I've never thought about the color of a dog, because to me and you and so many others, we all know it's what's on the inside that counts!!

  8. We didn't know there was a special day, but we're glad there is. Eight of us are black and Mom says we're all special. Obviously our Mom loves black pets.

  10. Happy Black Pet Day!!! You are one very beautiful black dog, Stella - we just love your shiny silky furs.

We think about Tsar all the time and hope he has many good days ahead of him. He sure has an awesome family to care for him.

  11. Happy Black Pet Day! I'm black and I'm proud. I'm also adopted. Thanks for stopping my blog. Lady loves black because it reminds her of dark chocolate!

  12. Isn't it amazing how people shy away from adopting black dogs? My old Ben was big (strike 1), shy (strike 2) and black (strike 3). And I was the lucky one for adopting him and having him in my life. Stella, you are beautiful, as all Black Pets are!!!

  13. Hi there, I just came from Bertie's blog and so surprised to read this-I've never ever heard of black dogs not being adopted because of their coat color. In fact, we just lost our old dog and when we adopt I had already determined to get a black dog. Here in Colorado I don't think it is that big of an issue and I'd never heard of it in Calif. either. Some people are just so ignorant. You for one, are simply beautiful-anyone in their right mind would cherish a pup like you.

  14. I love the color black too. Our rascal, R, is as black as the ace of spades.

It's so sad that black pets don't get adopted very easily.

  15. Oh gosh, we missed this! We would definitely have participated since my beautiful sister Rosie is all black!
